Book Donations

The library accepts small donations (a box- or bag-full) of gently used books throughout the year.

We use our Collection Development policy to evaluate donated books, just as we would if we were deciding whether to purchase a book. We also consider other factors like duplication of existing titles, number of holds, and whether the format fits in our collection. If a donated item meets these criteria, it will be added to our collection.

If we decide not to add a donation to our collection, it will go into our Book Sale, with the proceeds benefiting the library. The revenue from our book sale helps us to purchase thousands of new books every year, to provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate materials available.

What To Donate?

Tax Receipts

The library will issue a tax receipt, upon request, for donations of $10 and more ONLY for items deemed appropriate for inclusion in our collections. Receipts are NOT given for items used in the Book Sale.

Large Donations

If you have a large number of books to donate (several boxes), we appreciate them around the time of our summer Book Sale (usually in August), but do not have the space to store them at other times of the year.
