OBITUARIES - HOW TO FIND THEM
The
Edmonton
Public Library has excellent guidelines for finding Edmonton obituaries.
For the Edmonton Journal, years
1989-2002, and 2004 to the present, obituaries from the Edmonton Journal can
be found in
Canadian Newsstand. The article type must be set to obituary, using this
format:
AT(OBITUARY) AND SO(Edmonton Journal) AND name
Canadian Newsstand is only an index to obituaries--full text is not
available. If you find out which issue of the newspaper an obituary appeared
in, you can then access it either from the Edmonton Journal archives
(contact the
Journal Search department) or on microfilm at
Edmonton Public Library.
For obituaries that appeared in the Sherwood
Park News, inquire with the
Sherwood Park News office directly. There is no electronic archive of
this newspaper.
